Sunforce 50048 60-Watt Solar Charging Kit

517zx0irhil
The panels are installed on my garage roof, wired in to a battery bank and inverter which primarily functions as a very large (4KW) uninterruptible power supply for the house. So far, everything is working fine. They keep the batteries topped off without using power from the grid.
Like most manufacturer's specs, the 60 watt claim is hard to realize. The panels' current output is about 3.2 amps under bright sun, which yields only about 45 watts into a 12 volt gel cell battery at 14.2 volts. The panels can output about 20 volts which would indeed yield 60 watts, but not while connected with the included charge controller. A MPPT controller would achieve 60 watts, however.
The included controller is acceptable in that it works as advertised. One good thing about it is that it does not shunt the panels when the battery is charged, it actually opens the circuit, which means the excess panel output would be available for other uses. I intend to build another device for charging another set of batteries after the primary set is charged.
The included inverter works, but I did not use it in the system. Instead, I'll just keep it around for a portable inverter.
Also, I did not use the PVC pipe stand included with the system, instead mounting the panels directly to the roof.
The kit did include a variety of connectors allowing use with cigarette lighter plugs and jacks, alligator clips, and hardwire, but the charge controller is only usable if hardwired. I strongly recommend the charge controller be used, as the panels can easily overcharge most any 12 volt battery if a charge controller is not wired in.

Currie Technologies 24-Volt Bicycle Battery Pack, Black

Source: amazon.com via eko on Pinterest

One of my concerns in riding an eBike was "getting caught" away from home with a dead battery. Further, knowing the distances offered as expected range on the eBikes assumed someone slightly less voluminous than me - that's a mild mannered way of stating I am somewhat rotund. So, it just made sense to have a second battery. This allows me to travel 1 battery's distance away from home, knowing I have a like amount of reserve energy to make it back. Fact is, since using the eBike, I've rarely had to use the second battery to make it home. No surprises with the eBike or the batteries - both work well, and I'm using the older SLA type of battery.m

Ecotricity Portable Emergency Backup Power Solar Generator, Plug and Play

Source: amazon.com via eko on Pinterest

I like the fact that this has 5 separate outlets for fans , lamps, microwave, etc and an outlet for charger adapters. It takes 5 full days to fully charge from an AC outlet. Have not tried solar charger yet. Be sure and turn off when storing. I did not do this the first time and it actually ran down about halfway while just sitting in the closet. It has all kinds of little indicator lights that drain the charge. Had to re charge fully then turn off unit to store. The generator box while small (about the size of three shoe boxes) is heavy but seems very substantial and heavy duty. Solar panel is too heavy to do by yourself if a women so get help to set up. Also have a large beach towel to cover unit with when taking out of sun to keep it from continuing the charge.
Once you get it all folded down for storage the wheels do roll okay but they should be larger because it is hard to roll by yourself. I am saying all this because from the advertisement it seemed like it would be a quick roll and set up and roll and store, but it does take time and is heavy. Also the shipping box is huge so you will need delivery instructions in a small house or apt. I would recommend this to anyone who may face a power outage. The price was the best for what you are getting.

Down the Road of Global Warming and Solar Energy

In November 2008, the United Kingdom set a major precedent for our planet. The British government passed the Climate Change Act. The new law requires greenhouse gas emissions to be reduced to 80% below 1990 levels by 2050. The act also provides for support from an independent Climate Change Committee that will provide a series of "carbon level budgets" leading to reduced emissions down the road (Green America, spring, 2009).

The UK legislation addresses the "greenhouse effect" and global warming. In essence the British plan is to reduce their "carbon footprint" in terms of carbon consumption and transfer to atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2). It will require the cooperation of the UK government, industry, business leaders and the consumer population.

Since the goal of the new legislation is to reduce emissions and improve the UK climate, one must view their Climate Change Act as a sincere but symbolic gesture. The Climate Change Act has no provisions for fines or sanctions to ensure meeting future emission targets. At present the law is based on voluntary compliance but is likely to be connected to lower industrial profits and higher consumer prices.

The UK climate is only a tiny slice of an interactive world ecosystem. Any thought of changes in the British climate affecting the world climate is virtual reality. To achieve world climate change would require international agreements. What would be the probability of such agreements in the face of huge economic and political issues, dwindling energy reserves and rising future demands? The track record for this level of international cooperation in human history speaks for itself. Essentially, the UK climate Change Act addresses "an inconvenient truth" that's too inconvenient.

Reducing CO2 emission can be achieved by preventing the clearing and burning of forests (deforestation) and reducing ocean pollution for sensitive marine vegetation. By protecting all our plant life "producer" populations we provide safe passage for removal of CO2.

Reduction in fossil fuel usage is clearly the highest priority for reducing release of CO2. However, major reductions can also be made by reducing the need for fossil fuels in the first place. To control global warming and still meet long term energy demands, we need to use a "reduction by replacement" policy. In essence this policy describes continuous incremental levels of fossil fuel replacement "down the road" of incremental development of an alternative energy source.

The UK projects a 40 year period to achieve a questionable 80% reduction in 1990 emission levels for their country (not total emission levels). With the recent history of US solar energy development, could we predict a 50% reduction of total US emission levels using "reduction by replacement" in half this time? Could we imagine this 50% reduction in 10 years enhanced financial support? Besides US energy independence and obvious economic benefits, this is not WMD technology that can't be shared with other nations to achieve global climate impact.

The solar energy alternative is clearly a responsible approach for a clean environment, a stable climate, and the long term energy needs of humanity. From the explosive origins of our planet, energy for the human race has always been based on capturing energy from the sun. The sun belongs to every person in every nation. It doesn't generate foreign policy, just clean limitless energy. With supplementation by wind and other safe natural sources, we can progressively meet the remaining technical solar challenges.

The work of NASA, several corporations, and the current solar industry have created photovoltaic cells converting solar energy into electricity. We have experimented with solar-hydrogen power producing safe water vapor byproducts. We have manufactured photovoltaic cell products such as calculators, solar pumps and solar battery chargers for our ipods and laptops. We have developed larger voltaic cell devices for the solar panels we use in space or the ones we use for residential heating and cooling. We have designed simple liquid or air solar collectors for residential heating or more complex focusing collectors or heliostats for high temperature solar furnaces.

If stabilizing global warming, providing a cleaner environment, achieving energy independence and boosting the economy are top priorities, we need federal financial support. These funds would provide for research and development by corporations, universities, and the current solar industry infrastructure. We also need additional consumer tax relief at all governmental levels.

Considering the incredible technical challenges we have overcome in the past, a "reduction by replacement" energy policy could mean complete fossil fuel replacement by the end of the next decade. This should also represent the end of continued global warming and the start of a future shining in energy rich sunlight.

Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750

Logitech_wireless_solar_keyboard_k750
My biggest concern before buying this keyboard was that it would die too often. Let me first explain how these concerns were put to rest after several months of use. I use this keyboard in a room with a single window that is covered by both blinds and curtains. I also use the keyboard at least 10 feet from the window and the light in the room is off for most of the day. The keyboard gets several hours of use daily and I have never flipped the hardware power switch off. The power level, however, has never dropped below 100%.

Next, the "PerfectStroke key system" and "Incurve Keys" really are comfortable and make typing easier. I particularly like the way the key feels when you press down. You get a very small amount of feedback almost resembling the old IBM keyboards, but without the loud clicking. I agree that it is a bit like tapping on a laptop. The big difference, however, is that the keys on the k750 are much sturdier than those on your usual notebook PC.

As for the connection, I was a bit worried that the new super-small "unifying receiver" would not provide adequate signal. This is incorrect. In fact, this small transponder works much better than Logitech's older stick version. It is on the back of my pc and so has to see through an aluminum computer chassis as well as a wooden desk, about 4 feet total distance. I've never had a problem with the signal on either my mouse or this keyboard.

Finally, the software for the keyboard is pretty much what you'd expect. You press the sunlight button and a dialog pops up on your computer telling you the "LUX" (amount of light) your keyboard is getting and how much battery power is remaining. There is also a function key which you use in combination with the top row of keys to do things like open your internet browser, pause a song, mute/increase/decrease the volume, etc.

One downside, according to my wife, is that it looks like I'm using a giant old-school calculator. I think this is not true at all: the solar panels are a dark red while the keyboard is black. This causes the solar panels to not really be noticeable unless you are looking for them.

It's a little chubbier than i was hoping but overall it's an appealing looking box (you can decide for yourself by looking at the pictures). It's extremely light and it tunes my instruments, yay. As far as being solar powered, it could be totally battery operated and I would never know the difference. Saving the Planet and Saving on Utilities Using Solar Power

Solar
Clearly human society must eventually be powered by the renewable energy sources, wind, solar and its derivatives. Finding ways to save on your electricity costs and energy usage, also leads to lower your carbon footprint. The oil, gas and coal that power human activity are, in reality solar energy that was captured and stored millions of years ago, just as plants today continue to capture and store it. These sources of energy pollute the environment, creating hazardous conditions to human, plant and animal life.

Truth is, switching to cleaner sources hasn't been easy and cost-effective. Both solar and wind energy can be converted to make your life easier. Not long ago, thinking about using solar panels or wind power generators to save on the utilities bill, was out of any household budget. If you also considered of adding your contribution to "saving the planet", was just plain expensive.

Now there are new developments, many of which come from individuals like you and I, not necessarily from 500 Fortune corporations, hi-tech R&D departments. Some average Joe starts playing around with solutions for his own home. Every weekend he fiddles with ideas, sketches and gadgets, most of them purchased at the hardware store. After months, even years, some creative solutions are born.

That is exactly what happened with Michael Harvey. Michael, now 57, has been playing with alternate and clean sources of energy for over 15 years. His solutions to cut power bills by 80% or more, have helped many households to face these times of recession, using simple materials and designs. I have been an enthusiast of eco-conservation and believe that we owe our kids and the coming generations, a better planet to live in. It's just that every time I turned to clean energy sources, commercial solutions, being good and appropriate, were beyond reach.

We have been playing with Michael Harvey's designs, and boy, they work like a charm!. I will further write on this subject, since, somehow I am getting so excited and enthused that this is not about saving on our power bills anymore.

This is becoming an adventure, and I am all fired up. In our Florida based firm, Gaventerprise Group, we are committed to help some initiatives in third world countries. We have been involved, as volunteers, in the process of reeducating and re-socializing ex-combatants, both guerrilla and para-militaries.

Energy conservation on-a-budget may be a great alternative for these fellows, who are attempting to build new, meaningful lives. Since their income is very low, anything we can do to help them get inexpensive electricity, would be welcome. The fact is we can and should us solar panels to generate clean and renewable electricity for our homes.

The best example of the importance of solar energy to provide electricity in remote locations can be found on satellites. For many years, satellites have been using solar panels to catch the suns rays, in order to provide power to the equipment onboard. Using solar panels is a great way to generate clean and renewable electricity to power remote appliances, or even the average home. In the United States, solar power production is maximized while we all sweat under the summer sun, but wind levels are fairly low. Conversely, solar production is low during winter while winds tend to be at their highest. As the technologies surrounding the use of photo voltaic systems improve, we are likely to see a much greater, widespread use of solar cells.

Solar and wind are the future of alternative energy sources. Well, it's about time, we start finding ways to save on your electricity costs and energy usage, so we may contribute to save the planer, by lowering our carbon footprint.

How To Build An Electric Car

Electric-car-engine
You've decided to learn how to convert gasoline to electric car of your own. It's not that difficult of a project either. You just need to follow these simple steps-

    * Find a vehicle (Any type of car, motorcycle or even trucks can be converted to run on electric. The type of vehicles you choose really depends on what you want it to do.)

    * Get detailed plans such as Convert To EV or Electricity For Gas on how to convert your gasoline vehicle into an electric car.

    * Obtain deep cycle batteries and series wound DC motors for power.

    * Various parts and accessories.

Basically, converting your car to electric is simple. It involves removing the entire internal combustion engine from a vehicle, installing an electric motor in its place, and also adding a large bank of batteries.

The nice part of this whole process is that you don't need any special tools to do the conversion. Regular tools found in any home work shop will work. You will need a garage or shop to work in although you can do the conversion outside in your lane way if you have to.

After doing countless conversions according to the plans, we would suggest you locate a good helper as well. At times having a second set of hands is a good idea.

Learning how to convert gasoline to electric car is really about matching your DC motors used to power the car with the available battery supply.

In order to achieve the desired range between charges of over 200 miles you will need about 20 deep cycle batteries. You can even find free batteries and free DC motors that will work great for your electric car conversion if you follow the detailed plans carefully.

The DC motors are large and heavy but easily last the lifetime of your electric car, and possibly a second installation as well.

Try and find the lightest small car or truck that you can find for the conversion. This will insure good range between charges.

What we were really amazed at was the acceleration and speed of our new electric car. This is not a slow electric golf cart you are building. It is quick, responsive and smooth.

At stop lights you will be able to keep up with any vehicle off the line.

Although most Electric cars are designed for in town, you will find that you can travel easily at 50 mph on the highway too.

An electric car will take about 6-12 hours to completely recharge however results will vary, based on the weight of the car you convert, and the type of engine and batteries you install.

The whole process of learning how to convert gasoline to electric car will also probably take you about 1-2 weeks or so to complete depending on your abilities and persistence.

That's not bad, considering you will not have to stop at a gas station ever again and your electric car will also be more reliable and require much less maintenance that a gas-powered one.

Isn't it time you build your own electric car

Diy Solar Stirling Engine

Solar_lens
I loved it, I was able to put it together in just a couple of weeks. (Probably would have been quicker if I didn't have to go to work). It was simple, and easy to do, and the best part is, it's working!

One of the things I liked about this is that even my really good friend had no problems understanding how to put this together. Now, I have quite a bit of tech skills behind me. But, my friend Kara, she doesn't. She'll be the first to tell you that she HATES trying to put anything together. So, I decided to show here the guide. She was pretty shocked that she had no trouble with it . If you want more information about this program, go check out what others had to say about it! Go to Solar Stirling Plant Info

There have been lot's of different 'do it yourself' solar projects that you can make at home. I like that the world is beginning to think like this! I figure, for $50 bucks or less, it's worth it to learn everything I can about this! The Solar Stirling plant is pretty cool, in that it helps to teach you how to build solar panels at home.

The only thing is, they aren't super fancy solar panels! Not like the ones that were on my house before we bought it. It's sort of primitive. Check out the video below, and you will see. But, what I did like about this program compared to other programs is that I was actually able to find all the parts. Some of the programs I've bought were a great idea, but, there would be a copper piece that I couldn't find at home depot, or anywhere else. So, I would feel like I was in the middle of the project, and I was just stopped mid stream. What was good about some of those other ones I've bought is that each time I do it, I learn more about green energy, and how to do it at home. We really shouldn't have to pay anything for our electricity. Of course, the oil companies and the power companies really don't want to hear that!

One of the other things I liked about this is that even my really good friend had no problems understanding how to put this together.

Power4home Review: Get Free Power for Home Today

Would you like to get rid of those high power bills forever? It is now possible. This Power4home review brings you a review of the system that brings free power for home for you.

Review

This program claims to give you free power for life. While this sounded too good to be true at the start, we admit that this is indeed possible. The review of Power4home brings out many great facts about this program. This free power program has all that you need to set up your own power source that provide you with unlimited power for life.

Is it possible to have unlimited free power?

Yes. This program gives you unlimited free power through two systems - solar energy and wind energy. Both these systems are very simple to understand and implemented. The step-by-step instruction guide provided with the program makes it a lot more easier to implement these sources of alternative energy.

Solar Power or Wind Power?

The Power4Home review team was confused about the choice of the method to be used. The makers of this program explained that the choice of the system depends on the place where you live. If you live in sunny areas where you have sunlight for a better part of the day, you should use solar panels. People living in windy areas can make good use of the power4home windmill system. A combination of both these systems is highly recommended if your budget allows this.

This program makes sure that implementation of both the systems - solar panels or windmills is easy and quick. The instruction manual takes you right from unpacking the apparatus to assembling the final components of the system in a structured step-by-step manner that is very easy to understand and work on.

About the program

This program has been created by John Russel who is himself an industry leader, an electrician and a home owner. During the course of his career he has worked on various sources of alternative energy. He finally arrived at detailed diagrams and steps for setting up solar panels and wind mills. John writes in a way that is simple to understand and implement. This program will be useful to you even if you are not a handyman and are not used to assembling such things.

Conclusion

After conducting this Power4home review, we were very impressed with the way this program works. Power4home is a must have for anyone who wants clean and free power for his home.

Hojo Magnetic Motor - Use the HoJo Motor Plans to Build Your Own Electricity Generating Device

HoJo Motor Technology

While there has been a lot said about the HoJo Motor, it is worth noting that the technology used in this electricity generating device is based on the successful creation by one of the finest inventors of the last century, Howard Johnson who created a permanent magnetic motor generator which was the design for a perpetual motion machine.

Furthermore he dedicated most of his life to inventing a magnetic generator that could generate free electricity to power people's homes & appliances.

So the present day invention of the popular HoJo Motor, a free energy producing device that can be used in any household, owes a great deal to the pioneering discovery & work done by Howard Johnson who was the first to successfully patent such a device.

How Can the HoJo Motor Benefit You

The technology used in the design of this device was awarded 3 US Patents as the only machine that is able to produce free electricity.

This means that just about anyone who gets the HoJo plans can build their own machine to provide electricity to power their household or just certain appliances in their homes.

Furthermore the HoJo perpetual motion magnetic power plans are very easy to follow & the generator very easy to build & install yourself.

What this all means to you is that not only can your total dependence on the national grid be reduced, but you can make a significant saving on your electricity bill & save thousands of dollars a year.

How Does The Hojo Motor Actually Work?

Instead of utilizing just one set of magnets as in conventional magnetic rotors, this design makes use of two sets.

One of the key aspects to the successful operation of the motor is the exact positioning of these two sets of magnets - the stator set are fixed into a drum with the other set placed on the rotor.

So once the magnets are positioned & aligned correctly the motor can be started by spinning it & it will continue to spin on its own without any additional external power source.

This perpetual motion machine is then hooked up to a generator that will then produce electricity based on the energy created by the spinning motor.

Conclusion on Generating Free Electricity

The benefits of creating your own electricity to power your household & appliances are not only that you will be able to generate clean & free power, but importantly it will reduce your dependence on the grid & save you huge amounts of money on your electricity bill.

PS - Go to the following link to find out more about getting the plans for building this electricity generating device, which are not only easy to follow, but will show you how you can have your own HoJo Motor running successfully in just 2 days.

Guide To Home Made Energy

The amount of fossil fuels such as coal, gasoline, oil, and wood is slowly being depleted as mankind utilizes it every day. In fact, scientists and scholars predict that the world will be completely stripped of all fossil fuels within a few decades. With this bleak forecast in mind, it is important that everyone turns their efforts towards finding a means of generating home made energy of some sort. Homemade energy is an important investment for the future of your family, as you want to avoid an energy crisis in the near future. If everyone did their part to generate energy through wind power, solar power, water power, or geothermal power, the energy crisis could be avoided and the world would be a much cleaner and better place. If you are looking into your own home made energy system, then you are doing the right thing. If you want to reduce your monthly costs, you should definitely consider one of these homemade energy systems. Not only can you help to protect the environment and make the world a better and safer place, but you will be reducing costs and making an investment in your future. Here are some reasons that you should consider your own home made energy: By generating your own energy at home, you will be consuming less fossil fuels. Seeing as we are all citizens of the Earth, we have the responsibility to protect it to the best of our ability. By using less of the natural fuels provided to us by the Earth, we can protect it and help it to last longer. Using less electricity from the electric company means that you are reducing the amount of carbon dioxide and harmful gases that are being released into the air every day. The electric company has to use natural gas, wood, nuclear fusion, and other forms of energy creation that release fumes into the atmosphere and damage the planet, but using home made energy can help to reduce the among of damage done. You will be able to save a good deal of money once you have your own energy system running. Rather than being forced to pay hefty electric and heating bills every month, you can simply generate your own electricity and spend your money where it is most needed. The energy that you can generate with your home energy system is nearly unlimited, which means that you can have as much energy as you want. Using solar panels won't "drain" the energy from the sun, and you can set up a massive solar power system that will generate enough energy for you to power your home and even sell the excess energy. Doing your part to protect the planet and conserve the environment is one of the most important responsibilities that you have, and you will find that these home energy systems are some of the best tools you have at your disposal to do so. While it will be an initial investment, you will find that buying one or more of these home energy systems will save you money in the long run.
