It's a little chubbier than i was hoping but overall it's an appealing looking box (you can decide for yourself by looking at the pictures). It's extremely light and it tunes my instruments, yay. As far as being solar powered, it could be totally battery operated and I would never know the difference. It's not like I plan on using it in complete darkness (which would be very difficult, considering its screen has no back light) until it's final gasp of life is extinguished to check
